I often hear the comment from people that haven’t seen my home “Wow, you must have a great house!” or some other, but similar comment. Surely you’ve heard the story of the cobbler’s children having no shoes? Well, this designer’s home has no drapes – figuratively speaking of course….I actually DO have drapery, but I just got done re-doing the family room and realize that the living room drapes will be much more appropriately placed in there. (Remember The Starter Kit?) So we have another Starter kit…my Living Room.
Now to be fair, I’ve been wanting a new sofa and chairs for a while. I have a very comfortable sofa and love seat that the family can’t figure out why I want them to go away. (FYI, it’s because the arms take up the majority of the living room and compete with piano for square footage!) The problem with this is I absolutely can’t come up with plan for myself. Put me in your home, a client’s home, even a friend’s home (except Eileen!) and I’m all over it. Mine??? Not so much.
I’ve decided to treat myself and my family as a client. First stop? Professional advice (in the form of my colleague friends. Wish me luck!
