I’ve been a total fangirl for decorative lighting my entire life. Not just my entire ADULT life, btw. Probably from infancy, chandeliers have been speaking my love language. Whether they’re bold and modern, glitzy and glam, or even just natural and textural, great lighting can define or amp up the overall vibe of a space!
It is this power to illuminate and embolden, that makes my heart go thumpety-thump.
And since I am lucky enough to be a part of the 2022 Pasadena Showcase House design team, I am going to take my love for lighting and shine it into the dark spaces of this year’s 1905 English Tudor mansion. Lighting will feature HEAVILY in this year’s home, so I think that this is the perfect opportunity to share a few styles from our past Showcase rooms with you.
I’ll also sneak in a hint of my choices for this year’s show too!
Rousham
This light fixture is just perfect for our California Casual lifestyle. I love the neutral colorings, the creative use of twine (yes, that is really twine!), the silk shade and the use of wrought iron.
I picture this in a casual living space with overstuffed white sofas, natural wood-toned furnishings, lots of greenery and soft down pillows. Add in a few throw blankets and a textured rug underfoot. Hello Malibu!
There – doesn’t that feel nice? Find yours here.
Kingala
I am currently having a love affair with all things Bamboo. You too? This fabulous fixture is an homage to the more formal style of Chinoiserie. The natural materials, brass accents, and neutral color bring it into the present.
I see this fixture working in a sunny breakfast room with a view of the garden or pool. Comfy chairs that are the perfect fit for your first cup of coffee happily sit beneath it, and here you can get a glimpse of the morning paper(or getting real? checking out the latest news on the Vox app!). Grab yours here.
Grand Lotus (Small) – Available in Multiple Sizes
I love this entire collection! It’s formal and elegant, but also a little bit bold with its waves of gold. I’ve used it in a recent client’s home (to much applause, you’re welcome), and it featured prominently in the 2020 Pasadena Showcase House Street of Dreams Home Office Suite.
I think that the undulating lines are just GRAND, (wait is that redundant?), and with the multiple size and color options, the choices seem limitless. I’ve used pieces of this collection in a workspace, a foyer and I’ve used it’s little sister (a flush mount, no pun intended) stunningly in a powder room. Make it yours here.
Folgate
If the idea of embracing the gold that you see trending EVERYWHERE is just a little scary, perhaps this black and gold number could be just the ticket? It is mostly black, but it’s also touched with gold to brighten and refine the overall look. This traditional chandelier will be perfectly happy in a formal dining room. Pinkies up, fool! Get it here.

Okay, here’s the spoiler I promised you. This beauty is our number one contender for this year’s Pasadena Showcase House. We’ll be styling the Grand Entry and we will need a STELLAR piece to drop from the ceiling like a jaw dropping human ladder of Cirque du Soleil dancers. We instantly fell in love with this fixture. It is the Beyonce of chandeliers!
She blends grace and femininity with big branches of bold gold in a playful, yet modern style that will work perfectly with the other surprises we are going to WOW you with. Find yours here.
Now, Lighten Up
If the spaces in YOUR home need a little sparkle, consider updating them with decorative lighting. Just about every room will benefit from having a statement piece to lighten up and brighten up the space.
Who knows? Maybe you’ll soon be speaking the love language of light fixtures too.
