I was recently assisting a client with her kitchen renovation when this idea took hold for me. We met at the cabinet showroom and selected her cabinets. Then we popped in next door and found countertop materials, accent backsplash, and a companion neutral tile. We already had worked on the floor plan, so we had all the major decisions done within one afternoon!
It wasn’t our goal to complete her kitchen in a day like that, but I realized that we could accomplish so much in just one highly focused day with some proper planning.

Hire a Designer for a Day
Let’s go shopping! Armed with a plan, shopping list, swatches, and measurements, you and I will hit the stores for a productive day.
I’ve always included “field trips” with my full-service design clients. They’re fun, and they get a design project off to a great start! However, this is a little different in that we’ll be hyper-focused on one specific goal.
Is your mother-in-law coming for a visit? Need to complete your living room FINALLY? You’ve scheduled a bathroom remodel, and now the contractor wants your decisions NOW?!?!? Then this could be the perfect option for you!
How Does it Work?
We’ll start just like all my projects start, with an initial consultation. We will set up your project with measurements, pictures, and most importantly, your goals! Then we’ll schedule your full day of design. Our team will organize the day, make appointments where necessary, and even make lunch or tea break arrangements.
We’ll meet at the designated time and location armed with:
- Your project goals
- Swatches of items that will be included in the final design
- FULL measurements of the room in question
- A detailed floor plan of the space
You’ll shop with me, and you will be able to make buying decisions on the spot. We’ll get as much done as possible on our outing. If you’re quick to make decisions, we can conceivably get an entire space DONE in a day!
