It’s funny to see this listed as “week six”. It’s really not. More like week eight. But that’s okay. It IS 2020, after all and we could ALL use a little break.
I was glad of the extension. With everyone at home practically full time all our trades people have been absolutely swamped and wait times for custom items extend regularly. Getting my bed back was no exception! And as mentioned in “last week’s” blog, I ended up NOT sending the chairs out to be re-upholstered. The velvet ones you see in the picture were some chairs we had from a staging job last year and other than for the three weeks the vacant home was on the market, they’d never been used. The color was perfect and scale was great AND they were pretty comfortable.
So the room is done! Not exactly like I started out – that one little change of adding this amazing wallpaper caused a shift in quite a few things. My sister was helping me on the last day and asked if I was happy with it. Yes! Unequivocally. Do I miss the “soothing” blue? Maybe a little – quite a bit of nostalgia but this is a room of neutrals with contrasts and soothing in it’s own right. So yea…I’m happy.

About the ORC (text from the ORC Website!) – The One Room Challenge™, currently in its eighteenth season, is a widely anticipated biannual event every April and October. Each round, twenty design influencers are selected to take the challenge, as Featured Designers, and transform a space. Every Wednesday, the designers document their process while sharing their sources and professional advice over six weekly posts.
In addition to following along, everyone with a blog or Instagram account, is welcome to join the fun as a Guest Participant by linking their own room transformations up during the six weeks. Each Thursday, the internet and social media are flooded with interior design inspiration, ideas, and encouragement.
To date, more than 4,400 rooms have been transformed through the One Room Challenge™. The event, and many of the spaces, have been recognized and featured.
