So in full disclosure I missed TWO weeks of posting! Not a good look, I guess, but honestly? ALL the behind the scene bits were in place having kicked off the One Room Challenge with strong plan.
This week saw a LOT of process as the wallpaper went up, the desk got an update and was re-installed (more on that below), the electrical updates, including installing the new chandy, were made. All that’s left for the coming week is (a lot!) painting the closet doors, emptying, papering and restyling the shelves and hanging art.
The Wallpaper
Oh that wallpaper! It was definitely the bouncing off point for this make-over. The color palette was already one I loved. I didn’t even need to repaint as the SW Rainwashed that I love lived inside the paper! Plus it’s a black and white background that is perfect for the surrounding areas of my home.
The Desk
This desk in my office was a labor of love. It was my mom’s idea to do an angled desk that duplicated the angle of the shelves behind. My brother-in-law built it for me and it’s served me very well for years. It was made as big as possible to accommodate laying out fabrics and finishes when I was working from home. But I’ve had a separate studio for nearly four years now and the size of the desk is superfluous to my requirements. On the plus side, I’ve got a stellar view and having the computer positioned facing it is great! And I DO work from home often and this gets my creative juices flowing.
On the other hand, my back is too the door and I feel separate from the rest of the house. Also? A pretty desk would just look…prettier. I figured I’ve got a whole week to make that decision, lol!
Art
I’m loving this wallpaper. And it’s “art” all on it’s own. I had always planned to keep it simple but when I put the mirror back up (leaning – don’t want to put holes in the paper yet!) it was kind of lost on all the pattern. So I’m no re-thinking my art choices as well.
Another challenge??? Just how many animals can one designer have? I’ve got a wall full of Herons and I do have an animal patterned rug. So the artwork must be chosen carefully.
