I’m reading… Open your eyes by Alexandra Stoddard
I was introduced to Alexander Stoddard years ago by one of my best friends. My dear friend Debbie has been gone for a very long time. In fact Debbie, after her years of battling breast cancer, is the impetus for all the pink you see on my website and business cards. (see article) She was on the receiving end of all my enthusiastic plans as I started my design business and my biggest cheerleader. At the time, she was in the final stages of breast cancer. We would speak weekly and I would chatter on incessantly to keep her mind occupied with frivolity while fighting back the tears…knowing she wasn’t going to survive this horrible illness. Debbie was one of the first people in my life that made the mental connection for me that having nurturing surroundings could improve your overall sense of well-being and health. I think I hold responsible her less-than-wonderful (a euphemism, if there ever was one) surroundings as the primary contribution to her less than stellar rehabilitation.
Debbie used to rave about this author, Alexandra Stoddard. I think because Ms. Stoddard waxes poetic about living a beautiful life. (Indeed that is one of the titles of one of her books) With each release of one her books, she would call me and gush. We would plot and plan what her dream house and dream life would be. I own most of Ms. Stoddard’s books, but this one was new to me. Alexandra talks about living your best life always. The subject I can really relate to! This book, with a focus on the core, is right up my alley and lovely just like others. Her books are not rich on photography; they are rich in text. Most of the illustration in the book are hand drawings. If you’re looking for a big splashy, full color book, this isn’t it. But if you’re looking for something that embraces what your life should, and can, be, pick up any one of her books. And count your blessings.
