The Rule of Three
Odd numbers please the human eye more than even numbers: Unless you’re speaking of items in perfect symmetry.
Some examples I love
- Three colors to make a complete color plan
- Three items on a shelf to create or ‘begin’ a design story
- Blank shelf? Purchase a grouping of three items that relate to each other and work them together.
- Patterned fabric can bring make your look feel cohesive and well designed.
- Three placements of a particular color to move color around a room. Have a color item that you want to keep but it doesn’t flow or fit? Add to it with two additional items and “move” that color around the room.
- Three patterns, blended together to create a rich and full look in a room.
